Nuevo Baztán Town Council invites you to the presentation of the book Los Agotes del Baztán, written by author Luz Nogués. A novel set in our municipality that helps to highlight its history, identity and cultural heritage. A journey with the agotes, to whom it pays tribute and restores a leading role in history. The never-before-told story of a cursed people and the man who redeemed them. The agotes lived marked by stigma. Forced to sew a red goose’s foot onto their clothes, they were kept apart in churches, despised by the community and persecuted by the Inquisition. An outcast people whom history tried to erase from its pages. 

The event will take place on Thursday, 18 December, at 6:00 pm, in the Halls of Juan de Goyeneche Palace, an emblematic space within Nuevo Baztán’s Historic Complex. 

During the event, Luz Nogués will introduce the work, share her creative process and answer attendees’ questions. It will be an opportunity to enjoy a story rooted in the local area, written with sensitivity and great attention to historical context.
