The Nuevo Baztán Summer Festival continues to offer an outstanding cultural programme with another event from the Clásicos en Verano Festival, organised by the Regional Government of Madrid in collaboration with Nuevo Baztán Town Council.

On Friday, 17 July, at 8:00 pm, the Church of San Francisco Javier will welcome Chaconnerie, performed by acclaimed harpsichordist Silvia Márquez Chulilla, one of Spain’s leading specialists in early music.

The recital takes audiences on a musical journey through the chaconne and other forms based on the basso ostinato, a compositional technique that has inspired some of the greatest composers for more than four centuries. The programme features works by Antonio de Cabezón, Bernardo Storace, Louis Couperin, George Frideric Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Alessandro Scarlatti, concluding with a contemporary piece by Puerto Rican composer Roberto Sierra.

Under the title Chaconnerie, the concert invites audiences to discover how repetition and variation have shaped some of the finest works ever written for keyboard instruments. This captivating musical journey brings together the Renaissance, the Baroque period and contemporary composition in a performance of remarkable sensitivity and virtuosity.

Silvia Márquez Chulilla’s performance offers a rare opportunity to enjoy an exceptional repertoire in the unique setting of the Church of San Francisco Javier, further highlighting Nuevo Baztán’s commitment to promoting classical music while celebrating its rich historical heritage.

Admission is free of charge until full capacity is reached.

Nuevo Baztán Town Council warmly invites both residents and visitors to enjoy this latest event in the Nuevo Baztán Summer Festival, a programme that fills the town throughout July with music, cinema, heritage experiences and activities for all ages.
