Upgrading the Juan de Goyeneche Path
Upgrading the Juan de Goyeneche Path
3 September 2025
Today an institutional visit was held to the works to upgrade the Juan de Goyeneche Path, an ambitious joint project linking the municipalities of Nuevo Baztán and Olmeda de las Fuentes, fully funded by the Community of Madrid.
The project, with an investment of over €700,000, aims to restore and improve an approximately 3 km route that will connect the Interpretation Centre of Nuevo Baztán’s Historic Complex with Olmeda de las Fuentes’ Plaza de la Villa. The path will include new leisure areas, natural viewpoints and information panels that will highlight the historical and cultural heritage of both municipalities.
Attending the visit were the Deputy Minister for the Presidency and Local Administration, Mr José Antonio Sánchez; the CEO of Planifica Madrid, Mr Pedro Corbalán; the Mayor of Nuevo Baztán, Ms Gemma Pacheco; and the Mayor of Olmeda de las Fuentes, Ms María Victoria Roldán. Councillors from both town councils were also present, from both the government team and the opposition.
During the visit, the group walked some of the most representative sections of the future path. In Olmeda de las Fuentes, the route started at Plaza de la Villa and continued to the Huertos area, while in Nuevo Baztán it covered the stretch from El Balconcillo to the Community of Madrid Interpretation Centre.
This initiative not only strengthens cooperation between administrations, but also boosts tourism and cultural development in the area, encouraging people to discover the historical legacy of Juan de Goyeneche and his surroundings.
