Nuevo Baztán revives its glassmaking tradition with a series of glassblowing workshops
29 May 2026
Nuevo Baztán is once again highlighting one of the most important historical traditions from its industrial past with a series of glassblowing workshops aimed at adults.
In 1720, the Fábrica de Cristales y Vidrios Finos was established in the town. This was a place where outstanding master glassmakers trained before later working at the Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja. Today, this craft tradition returns thanks to the Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Centre and specialist professionals from the historic glass factory in Segovia.
The programme will give participants the chance to discover different glassblowing techniques through practical workshops led by master artisans.
The activities scheduled for 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., are:
- Saturday, 30 May
Coloured glassblowing workshop - Saturday, 27 June
Glassblown plates workshop
Registration opens on 2 June - Saturday, 19 September
Glassblown decoration with pincers workshop
Registration opens on 29 August
The activities are open to people aged 12 and over and will take place at the Palacio de Juan de Goyeneche.
Participation is free, although prior booking is required by email at cinbaztan@madrid.org or by phone on +34 686 941 217 during the opening hours of the Interpretation Centre.
This series is organised by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Community of Madrid, with the collaboration of Nuevo Baztán Town Council and the Real Fábrica de Cristales de La Granja.
A unique opportunity to discover and experience one of the historic crafts most closely linked to the origins of Nuevo Baztán.
