Family Workshops in Nuevo Baztán

20 May 2026

On 23 May, the Nuevo Baztán Interpretation Centre will host a new themed workshop devoted to the industries once established in the municipality. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the trades of the period first-hand and try them out in an enjoyable and entertaining way.

The creation of factories in Spain in the early 18th century was linked to the drive for reindustrialisation and repopulation that followed the War of the Spanish Succession. In Nuevo Baztán, Goyeneche founded a remarkable complex that brought together both manufacturing facilities and workers’ housing. Textiles, perfumes, bookbinding and dyes are among the industries that families will be able to explore, creating their own hands-on pieces inspired by these historic crafts.

This Saturday, 23 May, the workshop will focus on paper and plant fibre under the title “Papel mojado, fibras troceadas” (“Wet Paper, Cut Fibres”). The activity will take place from 12:00 to 14:00. Admission is free, but advance booking is required.

Advance registration is essential by calling 918 736 238 or 686 941 217, or by emailing cinbaztan@madrid.org, indicating the chosen date, number of participants and a contact telephone number. Organised by the Regional Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport. Directorate-General for Culture and Creative Industries. Subdirectorate-General for Fine Arts.
