Javierada 2025 and visit from residents of Veauche to Nuevo Baztán
Javierada 2025 and visit from residents of Veauche to Nuevo Baztán
11 March 2025
This past weekend, activities were scheduled for International Working Women’s Day, the visit of some residents from our twinned town of Veauche, and the Javierada. Nine members of the French twinning association arrived in our municipality, along with three councillors representing the Veauche Town Council. Many of the activities were affected by the bad weather we have been experiencing in these first days of March.
On Saturday morning they travelled to the city of Alcalá de Henares, where a visit had been prepared to important areas of the city such as the Cervantes House and the University. Visitors from Veauche, host families, representatives of the Twinning Association and representatives of both town councils learned about the history of a city with many centuries of life. In the afternoon it was time to attend the performance of the play The House of Bernarda Alba, which the Town Council had scheduled at the Valmores Cultural Centre. Producciones EDAE Pasiones offered us this production by Ana Belén Mota for International Women’s Day. A full house to enjoy these great performances.
On Sunday, the Javierada was celebrated in Nuevo Baztán. Only the religious events could be maintained, held inside the Church of San Francisco Javier: the Stations of the Cross and the High Mass, organised as every year by the Royal Congregation of San Fermín of the Navarrese. After the ceremonies, the official Javierada scarf was presented to the visitors from Veauche. To finish, a brotherhood meal was held in the rooms of the Valmores Cultural Centre. The Royal Congregation, residents from Veauche, the Twinning Association and host families shared unforgettable moments, food and gifts. A new experience of twinning and celebration.
