El objetivo de esta exposición es desentrañar el funcionamiento del lenguaje del cómic y sus mecanismos artísticos invisibles. A través de un recorrido visual, explora los procesos subconscientes que intervienen en la lectura de una historieta y está organizada en seis secciones: desde la viñeta individual hasta la secuencia y la página completa, pasando por el estudio de la composición, la creación de la historia final y el diseño de portadas icónicas.

The aim of this exhibition is to uncover how the language of comics works and the invisible artistic mechanisms behind it. Through a visual journey, it explores the subconscious processes involved in reading a comic strip and is organised into six sections: from the single panel to the sequence and the full page, including composition, building the final story and the design of iconic covers.

The show includes more than sixty original pieces and reproductions by leading authors such as Moebius, Hugo Pratt, Will Eisner, Carlos Giménez and many others.

Although comics are a rich and complex form of visual storytelling, they are often underestimated as superficial or childish. From the 1960s to today, the medium has evolved through innovative works aimed at adults and the development of the “graphic novel”, gaining artistic and social recognition.

A common mistake is to think that comics are a lesser version of cinema. While film presents events linearly, comics let you see past, present and future at the same time. This exhibition highlights the visual and narrative richness of the art form, inviting visitors to discover hidden connections, rhythms and harmonies between panels — and to transform the way they look at and read comics.

The exhibition is located in the Exhibition Rooms of the Juan de Goyeneche Palace, during the Tourist Office opening hours:
