Cañada Real Galiana

Cañada Real Galiana

Description

The Cañada Real Galiana is a livestock trail that since the times of the Mesta crosses Spain from north to south for the transhumance of sheep. It runs between La Rioja and Ciudad Real, also known as Cañada Real Riojana.

Its traditional function as a space for the transit of livestock, pastures, and agricultural infrastructure is still maintained, although currently, other uses such as hiking, cycling, or horseback riding are also present.

In Nuevo Baztán, we find, linked to this cañada, the Cordel de Senda Galiana, slightly narrower than the main Cañada Real, starting from the Conjunto de la Fuente del Rey, passing by the vicinity of the Monteacebedo Urbanization and crossing the Villas Urbanization.
