At midday, the solemn Mass was celebrated to commemorate the founding of the Parish of San Francisco Javier. For the first time, the \u201cSan Francisco Javier Choir\u201d took part\u2014a new local initiative. We wish them all the best and hope they continue their work just as they have done so far.<\/p>\n<p>The courtyard of the Juan de Goyeneche Palace hosted, this Sunday, the awards ceremony for the <strong>7th Quick Painting Contest<\/strong>, dedicated this year to the theme <em>\u201cThe historical, cultural and landscape values of Nuevo Bazt\u00e1n\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor <strong>Gemma Pacheco<\/strong>, together with the <strong>Councillor for Culture, Rosario Garc\u00eda<\/strong>, presented the prizes to the winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>1st prize (\u20ac1,000):<\/strong> Justo Antonio Paniagua, from Meco.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2nd prize (\u20ac500):<\/strong> Miguel \u00c1ngel Rodr\u00edguez, from Alovera.<\/li>\n<li><strong>3rd prize (\u20ac300):<\/strong> Pilar S\u00e1nchez, from Alcal\u00e1 de Henares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the same event, a moving tribute was paid to the painter <strong>Antonio Espa\u00f1ol<\/strong>, who received an <strong>Honorary Award<\/strong> in recognition of his artistic career and his connection to the town.
